Do you know how many different versions of Microsoft Office are in use on your network? Better yet, do you have any idea what updates those copies of Office have installed?

Microsoft recently released a tool on their downloads site that will help you answer those questions. From the file description:

From a central location, administrators can run the Office Update Inventory Tool on client computers to find out which Office updates have been applied, which Office updates are available to be applied, and which Office updates can be applied only to an administrative installation point.

Definitely a good tool for the toolbox!
