Monster.com Site Hacked

Last week, some visitors to job site Monster.com got more than they were looking for after the site was hacked and was being used to infect visitors with a multi-exploit kit. Large portions of the site were unavailable throughout the day on November 19, and visitors who used the site's search by company directory were infected with the Neosploit attack kit. A substantial portion of the directory - perhaps all of it - was affected.

Neosploit is similar to Mpack and is an iFrame exploit. The attack silently redirected unsuspecting visitors to a Neosploit site. The site has links to the Russian Business Network, a known hacker network that may have been involved in a Bank of India hack earlier this year. Monster.com was also hacked in August of this year. In that breach, company officials admitted that they did not know how long the breach had been in place, and that hackers had gained unbroken access to the company's database. In that instance, the hackers targeted emails to Monster.com site users, offering money laundering schemes and attempting to lure visitors into downloading malware.
