Mobile Security Still A Concern
A recent survey by CompTIA reveals that companies are struggling with security issues that result from an increasingly mobile workforce. Data theft and abuse by workers with hand-held devices is a growing concern, according to the survey. Of the nearly 1,100 organizations that were surveyed, sixty percent said that handheld devices posed a significant concern or a growing concern for their IT staff.

Companies that operate wireless networks didn't fare much better, with 55 percent of respondents saying that wireless securitylinks issues have increased significantly or somewhat in the last year.

Paradoxically, 80 percent of the survey respondents allow remote data access by mobile employees, or those who telecommute, but only one-third of those companies have provided additional security training, or training specific to remote data access, and only 10 percent plan to implement such training in the coming year.

According to the survey, nine of ten companies that have implemented training for their mobile or remote workers believe that the training has reduced the incidence of security breaches.
