On Monday, Microsoft opened a technology preview for Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1. In preparation for Windows Server 2008 and Windows Vista, the new service pack offers enhanced integration with Communications Server 2007, improved security through Forefront Security for Exchange Server, and better mobile device management through the addition of Exchange ActiveSync policies and network-level device and application control. The service pack also enables Standby Continuous Replication, which should offer users better disaster recovery/data loss capabilities. This service pack was previously released for testing to a limited number of users, (about 150,000) but will be widely available in the fourth quarter of 2007.

Microsoft has also made Office 2007 available as a download. The product comes in several versions, including Home and Student 2007, Standard 2007, Office Small Business 2007, Office Professional 2007, and Office Ultimate 2007. Users who download Office 2007 can also purchase backup disks from Microsoft.
