Cisco Chair Predicts Web 2.0 To Be Catalyst For Major Change

will force changes in the command-oriented structures of businesses, and will transform them into more collaborative organizations. Chambers predicted that standard home networking connections will range from 100 Mbps to 1 Gbps. In some respects, this is already being played out by companies like Verizon and AT&T, which have embarked on an ambitious plan to connect residential customers to the companies' fiber optic plants. In his address, Chambers also indicated that predicted productivity gains of 10 percent over the decade may be too conservative, and that new technologies and infrastructures will open possibilities that are only now being considered. According to Chambers, most organizations have not yet considered how or when they will incorporate Web 2.0 applications and technologies into their businesses.
